When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Richmond Denny Hamlin wants to be back behind the wheel. Hamlin who was initially ruled out for six weeks is hopeful that he will be behind the wheel of the No. 11 for the April 27th event. Returning at Richmond would be two weeks earlier this first reported. Hamlin’s eventual return will be dictated by doctors. Hamlin will be at Martinsville in support of driver Mark Martin who will drive the No. 11 Toytoa this week. Brian Vickers will assume Hamlin’s seat in future races. Nearly two weeks away from racing has done little to change the thoughts of the 32-year-old Hamlin who still is unhappy about what happened at Auto Club Speedway. “How is it not intentional? It’s not like he got loose because I took air off him,” Hamlin told USA Today. “I saw him getting closer, and I moved up the track. He was just going to keep going until he ran into us. Whatever happened after that, I’m sure he didn’t mean to wreck or get me hurt, but he meant to ru...

Hamlin looks to learn during absence

Telling a racer to slow down isn't easy. Especially a race-car driver accustomed to traveling at speeds of 190 mph. And backing down wasn't an easy concept for Denny Hamlin to grasp. Then he discovered how severe the consequences from his grim wreck at Auto Club Speedway on March 24 might have been. Hamlin, 32, suffered a compression fraction to his L1 vertebra. "...

Denny Hamlin hoping for early recovery

If it was up to him, Denny Hamlin's fractured vertebra in his lower back would not cause him to miss any races. ''I can get in my car right now and go; I feel like I can get in my car right now and win Martinsville,'' Hamlin said Wednesday. But he can't race this weekend at Martinsville. He'll be watching from pit road as Mark Martin drives his car,...

Payback is always coming in NASCAR

Denny Hamlin believes that justice will be served. While NASCAR deduced that the March 24 incident between Hamlin and Joey Logano in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway was just a racing deal, Hamlin still believes that the accident -- which left him sidelined for at least the next four races -- was indeed intentional. However, Hamlin did not take issue with NASCAR...

Opportunities differ for Martin, Vickers in No. 11

The drivers replacing the injured Denny Hamlin view their opportunities differently. Mark Martin hopes jumping in Hamlin's No. 11 Toyota at Martinsville Speedway this weekend provides a chance to change his career of disappointment on the shortest, trickiest oval in NASCAR's top series. Hamlin has won four times in 15 starts at Martinsville. Martin has won twice in 48 starts...

Fontana Recap: Denny Hamlin charged from 18th to second after the final restart with 11 laps remaining in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Auto Club Speedway and battled for the lead coming to the checkered flag, but contact sent the #11 FedEx Express Toyota spinning into the infield and hard into the inside retaining wall, relegating the team to a 25th-place finish in the event...

A Wild Start to 2013

Wild is just one word to describe the start to the 2013 Sprint Cup Series season. After five races last season, we sure didn’t have any rivalries and we were just complaining about the lack of action in the races. 2013 is a different story. The action we’ve seen so far this season has just been incredible. From heated tempers to Danica mania, the storylines just keep rolling...
