Martin Truex, Jr. led the way with a lap of 28.310 seconds in the first practice for the AAA Texas 500 from Texas. Rounding out the top five was Mark Martin, Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, and Tony Stewart. Jimmie Johnson, currently leading the points, posted the 27th best time.
