What a season it has been for Casey Mears and the GEICO Racing Team. For whatever reason, the team which had recorded just three top-16 finishes from 2010-2012, came into the 2013 year firing on all cylinders.
The No. 13 car was inside the top-16 finishers in four of the first six races of the season, and Mears found himself an impressive 17th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship standings after Martinsville. However around this time, things began to unravel just a bit for Mears.
Crew chief Bootie Barker, and Mears failed to hit the setup in Texas, and came home a disappointing 31st. Mears was left scratching his head in the garage at Texas. The following four races after Texas weren’t much more impressive.
