The NASCAR season is back upon us and it is time to get you caught up with everything that happened in the offseason. Start ‘N’ Park Blog will be going through their list of drivers running the full schedule in 2013 and telling you what you can expect from those drivers in the new year. Today’s entry is the driver of the #39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet, Ryan Newman. Driver: Ryan Newman #39 Sponsor(s): Quicken Loans/Outback Steakhouse/WIX Filters/Aspen Dental/Code 3 Associates Make: Chevrolet Team: Stewart-Haas Racing Crew Chief: Matt Borland 2012 Finish: 14th What’s new for 2013: Newman will start 2013 with Matt Borland as crew chief, he started with Newman in October of 2012 taking over for Tony Gibson. One year deal for Newman as this might be a make or break season for him. Mike’s Rank: 15th Mike’s Take: Let’s see how much Newman wants to stay at Stewart-Haas Racing. He needs to perform to keep his job, and as much as I am a Newman fan, I just don’t think it’ll happen. He will do his standard win one race, be in the conversation, but come up short in the end. Jason’s Rank: 15th Jason’s Take: Newman will miss the Chase because he can’t win races and he doesn’t have enough consistency. The Chase will be without Newman again and Newman may not be back at SHR by the times 2014 rolls around. Brandon’s Rank: 18th Brandon’s Take: Newman won one race in 2012, but he will need a ton of success to keep himself with SHR. Brittany’s Rank: 14th Brittany’s Take: I could care less how he does, but for Mike’s sake let’s put him in the top 15.
