Mets Announce Rotation, Elvin Ramirez Traded For Cash
Reliever Elvin Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations to free up a spot on their 40 Man Roster.
That they got anything for him is a mind-blower to me. His 5.48 ERA in 20 MLB appearances will hardly be missed. This one was the easiest cut/trade/release of all. The Mets’ 40-man roster now stands at 38.

Elvin Ramirez to take Batista’s spot on roster
I remember watching Elvin Ramirez pitch earlier this season for the Mets against the Nationals and then again vs. the Yankees and thinking he just wasn’t quite ready for the moment. In those two contests the 24-year-old gave up 5 ER on 6 hits and walked 7 batters in just 3 1/3 IP. I felt like David Seville in the Chipmunks looking at my television and yelling ‘Elvvvviiiiinnnn’...
Should the Mets sign Manny Ramirez?
Jason Bay is done. I’m going to say that he should probably just retire at this point because he’s not helping anyone by playing baseball. He’s hurting himself and the organization that pays him. Retire, go to Canada and drink some maple syrup. The Mets might be better off with Hairston/Valdespin, Nieuwenhuis and Duda in the outfield anyway.

Mets pitcher Ramon Ramirez injured celebrating Johan Santana’s no-hitter
It was a night of celebration at Citi Field after Johan Santana notched the Mets’ first-ever no-hitter on Friday. But as Santana’s teammates rushed from the dugout after he secured the final out to congratulate him, one Mets player went maybe a little too hard in the celebrating. Joel Sherman of the New York Post has the scoop:

Mets to call up Ramirez...
Mets.com is reporting that the Mets will call up reliever Elvin Ramirez, the hard throwing righty has been wowing them in Buffalo and is now being brought up to bolster the big league pen. Ramirez was selected by the Nats in the rule five draft last year but lost the entire season to a shoulder injury. Washington could have kept him this year under the same rule five stipulations...
Who do we want? Elvin Ramirez! When do we want him? Now!
If you find yourself clamoring for Frank Francisco and Jon Rauch these days, that may be a tell-tale sign that your faith in the Mets’ bullpen is waning.
After competing for most of the series vs. Philadelphia, it was once again the bullpen that let down the Mets this week as they let two close, winnable games get away from them. While whipping boy Manny Acosta has been mercifully...

Will Elvin Ramirez be a factor for the 2012 Mets?
On Monday’s podcast, I asked Mack Ade who he considered to be a sleeper among the team’s prospects. I was expecting him to say either Akeel Morris or Domingo Tapia, two guys who pitched in Kingsport this past season. But Mack identified Elvin Ramirez as a guy to watch, even suggesting that he was a closer possibility.
Ramirez was just an org soldier, a guy who could light...
