WWE broadcaster Jim Ross wants to call Pirates games

Any fan of wrestling through the turn of the millennium — or any sibling who had to suffer through playing on the game room TV — recognizes the voice of Jim Ross. The WWE executive/broadcaster has kept busy since leaving the wrestling scene — creating your own barbeque sauce is hard work, people — but it looks as though what Good ol' J.R. really wants is to be behind the mic again.

As MLB.com reported on Sunday, Ross proclaimed via Twitter that he is looking to get his Vin Scully on and do baseball play-by-play:

Good ol' J.R. is referring to the spot made available by the departure of Tim Neverett, who left the Buccos earlier this offseason when he signed on to call Red Sox games in the forthcoming 2016 season.

There's no word on whether or not the Pirates have responded to the offer. They're probably still trying to envision how Ross would call home runs — or whether they could fit his enormous cowboy hat in the broadcast booth.
