According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Athletics have claimed right handed pitcher Evan Scribner and outfielder Cedric Hunter off waivers from the San Diego Padres. She adds that right handed pitcher Michael Wuertz was released to make room on the 40-man roster. Wuertz pitched only 33.2 innings this year for the Athletics and had a 6.68 ERA. Scribner had a 7.07 ERA in 14 innings and Hunter hit .250/.400/.250 in 4 AB's for for the Padres in 2011. Image by guano under the Creative Commons License.
