PLAYERS: Ryan Gosling
Brace yourselves people, Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn are back. This week has given us our first look at the duo’s follow-up to the 2011 cult smash Drive with the red band trailer for their upcoming film Only God Forgives. Gosling stars and Refn directs the film that centers around the Bangkok underworld of boxing, corruption and prostitution. Gosling has promised that the film will be “part of the same dream as Drive” but will be “more extreme.” Drive was pretty brutal and violent, but if the promotional poster for Only God Forgives is any indication, we’re inclined to believe Gosling. The film is budgeted at only $5 million but looks like it has the potential to wind up becoming a cult hit. Gosling looks to deliver a mixture of creepy, mysterious and badass in the lead role, which is somewhat along the same lines of the character he portrayed in Drive.  It is slated to hit U.S. theaters July 19 after its expected Cannes Film Festival premiere in May.

Only God Forgives is Gosling’s Next Big Score

Although personally, I haven’t seen Gangster Squad or Beyond the Pines, I will say that I am a Ryan Gosling fan, mostly due to the now, cult movie Drive. With great presence, acting and badass roles, whats not to admire, about a guy who seems as humble and friendly as your best friend. Next up? Only God Forgives which looks like another home run by director Nicolas Winding Refn...
