The Boston College women’s soccer team will take on Penn State on Friday in a second-round NCAA tournament game, and they’ll have to do so without their second-leading scorer. That player, Stephanie McCaffrey, won’t miss the game because of an injury, though. She’ll be sitting out because her school is deeming a few jokes she made on Twitter went a little too far and crossed the line. The Boston Globe reports that McCaffrey sent out 10 tweets referencing the Eagles’ second-round opponent, Penn State. However, it wasn’t your typical trash talk. The 19-year-old sophomore rattled off a string of tweets about the Penn State child sex abuse scandal involving disgraced former football defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. “I wonder if we’ll get into the visitors locker room at Penn State,” she tweeted, according to OnwardState.com. “I hear the showers are weiners only, 10 and under.” She didn’t stop there, though. “Raping at Penn State to getting raped in state penn…. #beatPennState #santouchsky #legggooeags” McCaffrey eventually deleted the tweets and her Twitter account. Boston College, with their high-standing moral traditions and all of that, was not happy, as you could imagine. That, of course, led to the suspension, despite the fact that the team is playing in its biggest game of the season. “The student-athlete used very poor judgment and exhibited insensitivity towards Penn State for which she apologizes,” BC athletic director Bob Bates. “This type of behavior is not tolerated among our student-athletes.” Thumbnail photo via Facebook/Boston College Athletics Photo of the Day If the Bills score a touchdown, and no one outside of Buffalo really cares, is it still a touchdown?
