Puerto Rico's Professional Boxing Commission has suspended former WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez as it investigates allegations he made against a referee who recently handed Lopez his second defeat. The commission released a statement Friday saying it will ask Lopez to explain why he should not be sanctioned for accusing referee Roberto Ramirez of betting on the March 10 fight. It marked the second time Lopez lost to Mexican Orlando Salido by technical knockout. Officials with the WBO World Championship Committee said earlier this week that Lopez's comments lacked sportsmanship and that they would seek to suspend him for one year. Lopez is 31-2 with 28 KOs.
