Manny Pacquiao is a congressman in the Philippines in addition to being one of the top boxers in the world, so his political viewpoints are influential. Pac Man is conservative and follows the word of the Bible, so it’s no surprise that he vehemently opposes President Obama’s acceptance of gay marriage.

“God’s words first … obey God’s law first before considering the laws of man,” Pacquiao said in response to Obama’s support of gay marriage.

“God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other,” he told Examiner.com.

“It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.”

Pacquiao has changed his ways recently and tried to eliminate his vices. He’s also expressed stronger ties to God, so it’s no surprise to hear him talk this way.

I know he has his convictions on the matter, but I still wonder how it hurts non-gays to have gay marriage legalized. If two adults want to marry, why should they be stopped? If you’re telling me it’s because the Bible says so, I’m going to need a better reason. I still haven’t heard a good explanation for why people should be denied that right.

  • I understand where Manny the pacman Paquioa comes from, but I can't compare him president Omaba, there is big gap of education and experience. Everyone read the bible, and the bible has changed some words every year even though the main idea is there. For example, the bible used to say that "every men are the son of God", and this word has changed to "Every human bein or individual are children of God" Our president knows about this change, but I am not sure if Manny does
  • I can't compare him with President Obama
    Human being
  • Nevertheless, I am his fan
  • Kick him out of the US, and BAN him from ever entering again. Then DEMAND and apology from the Philippines for speaking against the country. This is the punishment for ANY American who would dare to speak against any laws, President, church, etc in the Philippines. You wonder why Americans are laughed at in other countries, and thought of as weak, prejudice, and backwards? It is laughable, but unfortunately for a large population it is true.
  • This is too funny...they put he "follows" bible...and thats how it should have been written...im sure there is somewher in the bible that states its ok to beat someone for a a sport...thats really following Gods way...??? Give me a break Manny...
