Former Major Leaguer Pascual Perez was assassinated yesterday in his house reports “Diario Hoy” in the Dominican Republic. Perez was assassinated when criminals broke in his house to rob him.
“Several individuals broke in Perez's house in the town of Don Gregorio, San Cristobal Province, and assassinated him,” said police spokesman Diego Pesqueira. “We're investigating the situation.”
Perez, who was 55 years old and was suffering from renal problems, pitched in the Majors 11 years with the Pirates, Braves, Expos and Yankees. He retired with a 67-68 record, a 3.44 ERA, 0.8 HR/9, 2.5 BB/9 and 5.9 SO/9 in 1,244.1 innings.
RIP Pascual Perez.
