Once again fate has stopped Kell Brook and  IBF Welterweight World Champion Devon Alexander from meeting in the ring, as Brook has suffered a foot injury that will require him to withdraw from their May 18 bout. Injuries already have stopped this fight twice before, with a Kell Brook bum ankle causing the first postponement and an Alexander bicep strain necessitating the second. Now that the third attempt has failed, England's Lee Purdy, the number four rated IBF welterweight contender, will face Alexander in place of Kell Brook, rather than scheduling the original bout a fourth time.  The bout will be televised on Showtime as part of its Lamont Peterson-Lucas Matthysse broadcast.
