• Santonio Holmes Has a Lisfranc Injury

  Yahoo Sports is reporting that New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes has a Lisfranc injury to his left foot and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

  Holmes went down early in the fourth quarter after catching a four yard pass from Mark Sanchez. He was untouched when he went down as he flipped the ball to Carlos Rogers of the San Francisco 49ers, who subsequently returned it for a touchdown.

  Holmes' X-rays were negative, but his MRI was sent to foot specialists who then confirmed the Lisfranc injury.

  The Jets are already thin at the wideout position, so, this comes as another major blow to the Jets, who are already reeling with the loss of Darrelle Revis.

  A Lisfranc injury is an injury in which one or all of the metatarsal bones are displaced from the tarsus. Usually a recovery time from a Lisfranc injury is anywhere from 6 to 14 weeks.

• Cromartie Claims He's 2nd Best Receiver on Jets

  The New York Jets receiving corps may be a little thin, but recent comments by Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie may be overdoing it a bit.

  Cromartie said today on on the cesspool that is "ESPN First Take" that he is the second best receiver on the Jets squad. He said, “I think I’d put myself as second,” he said. “I haven’t really played it in the past four or five years, but I can put myself as the second just with raw ability and talent going out there, I think, me separating and being a more physical guy out there on the outside.”

  Cromartie hasn't played receiver since his college days at Florida State, but seems very confident that he can play both sides of the ball, a la Deion Sanders.

  The Jets receiving corps outside of Santonio Holmes is pretty thin. The Jets signed former Raider Chaz Schliens to possibly be the number two receiver. Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill are expected to be the three and four recievers in New York.

  Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said about the possibility of Cromartie lining up at wide out, that he wouldn't rule anything out.
