A's Victory Could Pose Problem with NFL Scheduling
The Oakland A's completed a huge comeback to clinch a very unlikely AL West crown, but in the process may have caused the NFL to shift some schedules around.
Since the A's clinched the AL West, they will now have home field in the ALDS and they now have a shot at hosting the ALCS. If the A's do in fact host the ALCS, the A's would need to use the O.co Coliseum on Sunday, October 21, the same day the Oakland Raiders are to host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The NFL is considering moving the Raiders-Jaguars game to Monday night, according to the Associated Press, but this is all contingent on the A's actually hosting the ALCS, if they don't host, then all of this would be for nothing.
In order for Oakland to host the ALCS, they need to beat the Detroit Tigers and would need the New York Yankees, who have clinched home field in the American League, to lose to the wild card play-in winner, either the Baltimore Orioles or the Texas Rangers.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement, "We will monitor the situation."
If the Raiders-Jaguars game does in fact move to Monday night, then there will be two games on Monday night with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears playing on Monday Night Football.
