• Bruins ready to build for 2008-09 season

  I know the blog's been dead for the last two weeks so I figured I'd slap this link on here for the meantime.
  
  Peter Chiarelli was on TV the other day with Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy talking about Bergeron being back on the ice and also Manny Fernandez who were both out for 3/4 of the season.
  
  The Bruins are definitely going in the right direction and I'm personally really excited to see them make some key signings and moves. Boston was so close last year, so, so close...
  
  In other news, well the Red Sox got a much needed sweep of the Minnesota Twins yesterday while the Yankees helped them out by taking both games against the Rays as the Sox are now 2 games back, but still 4 back in the loss column.
  
  And that's about it. I'll post updates when necessary, but for now it's been slow ever since having to leave the Globe and school is out.

• Believe in the Bruins??

  With November coming to a close, the Boston Bruins are on Cloud 9. The B's have compiled an 11-1-1 record in the month alone and just stomped all over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday.
  
  Boston currently leads the Northeast Division and are tied with the New York Rangers for first in the Eastern Conference with a 24-16-4-4 record.
  
  The question is, are the Bruins for real? Unlike the 2007-2008 season, Patrice Bergeron isn't out for the year with a concussion, Manny Fernandez is back and healthy, and players you wouldn't have thought of are stepping up such as Chuck Kobasew, Matt Hunwick, and Blake Wheeler to name a few.

• Bruins on the road for next 5

  The Boston Bruins will be on the road for the next five games and they all might be without Patrice Bergeron who was recently released from the hospital diagnosed with a concussion after a hard hit against the Carolina Hurricanes last night. 
  
  Tonight the B's face the St. Louis Blues (13-16-3) that are 8-6-2 at home.
  
  
  Here the rest of the road schedule for the month of December.

• 2009 NHL Winter Classic

  How sweet is this? For the second year in a row, the NHL is going bold with an outdoor ice hockey game dubbed the "Winter Classic." This year the game is being played at Wrigley Field in Chicago between the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings and the hometown Chicago Blackhawks.
  It's a brisk one in Chicago with the mercury settling at 27 degrees (feels like 15 with windchill). Besides the uniqueness of everyone being outside, one interesting take is that there isn't even an announcers booth. Yup, that means the TV commentators get to enjoy the blistering cold as well. Hope they have one of those portable heaters and heat warmers in their shoes and gloves.

• Red Sox vs. Bruins; What to watch tonight

  What will you be watching tonight?
  
  On one hand we got The Boston Red Sox down in Tampa Bay looking to even things up with a W. Justin Masterson will be on the mound facing Andy Sonnanstine.
  But on the other hand you have the Boston Bruins at the TD Garden facing the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in the playoffs. The Bruins have been eagerly waiting after sweeping the Montreal Canadiens.

• Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, aaahhh!!!

  For the second time this week, the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox are all playing on the same night.
  The Bruins are down 2-1 in the series vs. the Carolina Hurricanes.
  The Celtics are deadlocked at one game apiece with the Orlando Magic.
  And the Red Sox host their latest arch enemies, the Tampa Bay Rays, which for some reason, they cannot beat?
  Of the three games, which is the most important?
  Bruins?Celtics?Red Sox?
  As a DirecTV customer, I can watch the Sox game, click on my handy dandy red button on the remote control and get access to score guide, so I can see the scores of the Bruins and Celtics games. Or vice versa. Instead of going channel flipping crazy I can do the score guide.
  And luckily unlike some Bruins fans out there, I get Versus and also NESNplus so no worries over here.
  Me being the diehard Sox fan, but am also pumped that the Bruins have a shot, I'm thinking that the B's are more important tonight.

• Bruins done, Canes kill 'em

  It was a good run, but the Carolina Hurricanes are the ones who are advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.
  After killing off the New Jersey Devils in the quarterfinal, the Canes killed off the top seeded Boston Bruins in the east to advance to the big east dance against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  It's one step at a time apparently for hockey in Beantown (quarter 2008, semi 2009, final + beyond 2010?).
