Former Atlanta Hawk and New Jersey Net Mookie Blaylock is in critical condition and has been placed on life support following a two car accident in Atlanta this afternoon. Blaylock was one of two people critically injured when his vehicle hit another head on. Blaylock's Cadillac Escalade crossed the median on Tara Boulevard into the southbound lane. According to police, the accident happened at 1PM this afternoon. The other names injured have not been released, but all were flown to Atlanta Medical Center. Blaylock was found unrespomsive and a female passenger suffered from internal bleeding. Blaylock played for 13 seasons in the NBA and was named to two All-Defensive Teams. He was named to the Eastern Conference roster for the 1994 NBA All-Star Game, his only All-Star appearance. An interesting side note, Blaylock was the inspiration for the band Pearl Jam's first name, Mookie Blaylock, before switching to it's current name. Blaylock finished his NBA career with career averages of 13.5 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
