Alomar To Interview With Red Sox
The Cleveland Indians have granted bench coach and former catcher Sandy Alomar, Jr. permission to seek the Red Sox managerial vacancy.
According to reports, Alomar will be one of the next two, more than likely Mike Maddux is the other, to interview for the Red Sox.
Alomar has no managerial experience, but was promoted to be the Indians bench coach next season. Alomar is regarded as a young coaching talent and was on the short list for managerial positions last season.
Alomar played 19 seasons in the Majors for eight teams. He is most known for is time spent with the Cleveland Indians from 1990-2000 where he was a six time All Star and was the 1997 All Star Game Most Valuable Player. Alomar also won his only Gold Glove in 1990.
