• Dartmouth Gets Creative When Team Forgets Kicking Tees

  When the Dartmouth Big Green traveled to New Haven to face off against its Ivy league opponents Yale, the team forgot a vital piece of equipment for the game.

  
  

  They forgot the kicking tees.

  
  

  Good thing these kids go to an Ivy League school and could use their heads and improvise. Dartmouth kicker R.C. Willenbrock decided to cut down a water bottle and use that as a tee.

  
  

  "I saw a water bottle, and I was like, 'this will work perfectly,'" Willenbrock said. The team had to revert to the bottle tee after Yale decided to take back the tee it had originally allowed them to use.

  
  

  Starting kicker Riley Lyons averaged 60 yards on kickoffs and recorded two touchbacks, so, just in case they forget another time, they have a capable backup plan.

• Brown University Removing Joe Paterno's Name From Program

  The fallout from the Freeh Report continues and now Joe Paterno's alma mater, Brown University, is beginning to remove his name from the entire football program.

  Brown is removing Paterno's name from the title of its head coaching position and the renaming of an award presented to the school's most outstanding freshman male athlete.

  According to WJAR, a TV station out of Providence, Rhode Island, Brown's decision to remove Paterno's name from the award is now permanent.

  The university was considering changing the name of the award well before the Freeh Report was made public. The award was presented this season without Paterno's name.

  Joe Paterno played both quarterback and cornerback for the Brown Bears from 1946-1949.

• Columbia University Bans Band For Final Game

  Columbia University has announced that their marching band will be banned from the final home game of the season against Brown for altering the school's fight song to reflect their 0-9 season.

  Columbia's fight song, "Roar, Lion, Roar", is played at the end of every game, but this past Saturday, in a blowout loss to Cornell, the band altered the lyrics to, "We always lose, lose, lose; by a lot, and sometimes by a little".

  Columbia University athletic director Dr. M. Dianne Murphy said in a statement, "Our football players, coaches, alumni, parents are extremely hurt, disappointed and angry by the band's behavior at Cornell, because of the band's disrespect for the feelings and efforts of their classmates and fellow Columbians, we believe that allowing the band the opportunity to perform at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium on Saturday undermines the University's institutional support for our football team."

  The marching band has since apologized and have accepted their punishment.
