Yankees Claim Darnell McDonald Off Waivers From Boston
The New York Yankees have claimed Boston Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald off waivers today.
The move gives the Yankees some outfield depth while left fielder Brett Gardner rehabs his elbow that has kept him out much of this season.
McDonald is expected to join the Yanks in Boston on Friday. In order to make room for McDonald, the Yankees designated Chris Schwinden for assignment. They will not make the move until Friday.
McDonald has hitting .214 with two home runs and nine RBI's for Boston when he was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on June 30.
