• Joe Sakic Among Four Elected To Hockey Hall of Fame

  Former Colorado Avalanche and Quebec Nordiques captain Joe Sakic was among four players to be named to the Hockey Hall of Fame today.

  Sakic joins Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, and Mats Sundin as the four being elected to join the Hockey Hall of Fame. The vote took place today in Toronto at the annual meeting of the Selection Committee.

  Sakic, a native of Burnaby, British Columbia, scored 625 goals and recorded 1016 assists and won two Stanley Cups with the Colorado Avalanche. Sakic was also one of the classiest players of the ice. Former coach Marc Crawford said of Sakic, "I talk about Joe a lot whenever I'm speaking. The one thing I say always sticks out for me was just how he was a great example of how to do work and how to be that high-end, elite professional."

  Sakic also won a gold medal for Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

  Other first round candidates that didn't make the cut were Claude Lemieux, Curtis Joseph, Gary Roberts, Jeremy Roenick, and Brendan Shanahan.

• What Is The Greatest Sports Theme Music Of All Time?

  Lately, I have been pondering about what is the greatest sports theme song of all time?

  Excluding John Tesh's amazing "Roundball Rock" for NBA on NBC, a classic, what could it be?

  Here's one that could be: The old NBA on CBS theme.

  The quintessential basketball theme of the 80s. You hear it and just wait for Magic and Larry duking it out at the Garden or the "Bad Boys" of Detroit throwing punches.

  Another nomination is the old Hockey Night in Canada theme.

  You know its great when an entire nation and Wayne Gretzky spoke up and tried to save it (to no avail however, CBC lost the rights).

  Or what about Wimbledon on NBC?

  Waking up as a child on a Sunday morning and hearing this as Andre Agassi took to the hallowed grass of Centre Court is perhaps my earliest tennis memory. I look forward to Wimbledon every year, but now the song is silenced because ESPN now has the exclusive rights to Wimbledon. You will be sorely missed.
