Super Bowl Betting: Odds favor 49ers over Ravens
If anyone thinks the Baltimore Ravens feel slighted by being underdogs on the Super Bowl odds menu, think again.
Baltimore just won outright on the road as a 9-point underdog at Denver and then as an 8-point underdog at New England. Getting 4.5 points (bet down to 4 points early in the week according to the NFL odds menu at Bovada) just makes it easier.
Top online sportsbooks and most of the Las Vegas shops opened San Francisco as 4.5-point chalk for Super Bowl XLVII.
The total was sitting around 47 at most shops early in the week.
The fact Super Bowl underdogs are 8-3 ATS in the past 11 Super Bowls just gives more ammunition to Ravens backers, who feel the team can send Ray Lewis into retirement as a champion.
San Francisco got here with a dramatic rally from 24-7 down at Atlanta. Rookie QB Colin Kaepernick led the rally as the 49ers covered the closing spread of -3.5 (but failed to beat the opening number of -4.5). The final was 28-24.
Baltimore stifled Tom Brady in the second half en route to a 28-13 drubbing of the favored Patriots.
The 49ers have been excellent as a favorite lately, going 8-1-1 SU in their past 10 games in this role.
On the Super Bowl MVP odds menu. Kaepernick is the early favorite, ahead of Joe Flacco and Ray Lewis as the next two top betting choices.
Watch for line moves and updates this week, and plenty of ways to bet on the Super Bowl.
