• Aaron Rodgers Top Rated Quarterback In Madden NFL 13

  The NFL quarterback ratings in Madden 13 are out. Green Bay Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers is No. 1 with a 99 overall.

  The game also have plenty of love for New York Giants QB Eli Manning coming off a Super Bowl winning season with a 97 overall (4th on the game). Eli Manning's brother, Peyton Manning, is rated at a  93 overall for the Denver Broncos. All of the QBs in the top 10 have at least an 89 overall. The top 5 are all rated 95 or higher which I think is giving out ratings too easily. I'm sure people will be adjusting these scores down when they get the game.

• Tony Romo Wins 2011 NFC East Positive Impact Factor

  Tony Romo won the Positive Impact Factor (what's this?) for the NFC East this season. However, it's Eli Manning, who finished third during the regular season, who is in the playoffs.

  Here's the 2011 NFC East Positive Impact Factor Standings (PIF with sacks counted as rushes like the NCAA in brackets):

  1. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys, 42.8 (50.5)

  2. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles, 36.1 (40.2)

  3. Eli Manning, New York Giants, 25.4 (37.2)

  4. Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins, -14.4 (15.5)

  For Romo to win the regular season PIF is a little surprising. During his career, he has usually posted a decent number during the regular season but nothing like this year. In fact, his 2011 PIF was the best of his career. What changed this past season? He produced touchdowns at a higher rate and didn't lose fumbles at his average rate.

  Michael Vick was second in the NFL behind Tom Brady last season with a 52.7 PIF, the best of his career. This past season was a return to normalcy for Vick. His touchdown rate went down while his interception rate went back up as did his rate of lost fumbles.

  Eli Manning had a bit of a bounce back year from the 10.1 PIF he put up last season (28th in the NFL). His career low came in 2009 with a dead-last -48.2 PIF. His best season came in 2008, a 29.4. While his fumbles lost rate is still troublesome, his touchdown rate came up and interception rate went down.

  Grossman has never finished with a PIF number in the positive side in his NFL career as a starter. This past season was his worst season. His best season was a -4.4 in 2006. Grossman can produce touchdowns at a decent rate but his turnovers come way too often be it interceptions or fumbles lost.

• 2011 NFL Draft Grades: Wide Receiver Needs

  The 2011 NFL Draft is over and now we can look back at the selections and figure out if teams addressed their needs at wide receiver (or if they drafted as if they didn't understand they had needs at wide receiver).

  Here is a list of NFL starting quarterbacks who were most victimized by dropped passes last season (5.5%+ of a quarterback's attempts being dropped is a major issue for me). Dropped passes as percentage of incompletions in brackets.

  1. Derek Anderson-Arizona: 8% (16.5%)

  2. Tom Brady-New England: 7.5% (22%)

  3. Shaun Hill-Detroit: 7% (18.2%)

  4. Peyton Manning-Indianapolis: 6.6% (19.7%)

  5. Sam Bradford-St. Louis: 6.1% (15.3%)

  6. Eli Manning-New York Giants: 5.9% (16%)

  7. Ben Roethlisberger-Pittsburgh: 5.9% (15.4%)

  8. Colt McCoy-Cleveland: 5.9% (14.9%)

  9. Mark Sanchez-New York Jets: 5.9% (13.1%)

  10. Carson Palmer-Cincinnati: 5.8% (15.2%)

  11. Kerry Collins-Tennessee: 5.8% (13.6%)

  12. Matt Hasselbeck-Seattle: 5.6% (14%)

  Injuries or not, those are unacceptable levels of drops and each of the teams above should have been looking for wide receivers (and/or running backs with good hands). So did the teams above draft receivers?

  Detroit: 1 (Titus Young-Boise State, Round 2)

  Indianapolis: 0

  St. Louis: 2 (Austin Pettis-Boise State, Round 3; Greg Salas-Hawaii, Round 4)

  NY Giants: 1 (Jerrel Jernigan-Troy, Round 3)

  Pittsburgh: 0

  Cleveland: 1 (Greg Little-North Carolina, Round 2)

  NY Jets: 2 (Jeremy Kerley-TCU, Round 5; Scotty McKnight-Colorado, Round 7)

  Cincinnati: 2 (A.J. Green-Georgia, Round 1; Ryan Whalen-Stanford, Round 6)

  Tennessee: 0

  Seattle: 1 (Kris Durham-Georgia, Round 4)

  Tight ends might also help address the drop issues. However, out of the above teams only St. Louis, Cleveland, Arizona and New England drafted a tight end.
