PLAYERS: Brian McCann
TEAMS: Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves will finally have to make a decision regarding Evan Gattis' role on the team tomorrow.  All-Star catcher Brian McCann is coming off the disabled list and rejoining the team Monday, and that means Gattis will no longer be able to maintain his everyday catcher role. According to Carroll Rogers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McCann has passed all the tests associated with his rehab assignment, and even former manager Bobby Cox (now a consultant for the Braves) gave McCann glowing reviews.  The long-time Braves catcher suffered a frayed labrum, and after plenty of talk surrounding what the best treatment method would be, McCann underwent surgery. McCann's injury put his status with the team in jeopardy at least from the contract negotiation standpoint.  Rather than negotiating an extension this offseason, McCann was rehabbing and the Braves were wondering what type of production they could expect from him.  McCann will now be joining the Braves in what could be his final season if the team decides not to extend him. McCann has been with the Braves organization since they drafted him in 2002.  He made his Major League debut in 2005, and he has now played in eight Major League seasons.  He is a career .279/.351/.475 hitter.  McCann is also a six-time All-Star.  Injuries throughout 2011 and 2012 have significantly reduced his production.  The Braves and McCann hope that with surgery out of the way, the 29-year old can get back to his old ways.
